TRIBE - Laboratory of Robotics and Iot for Smart Precision Agriculture and Forestry
TRIBE LAB, established in 2013, is dedicated to advancing robotics, automation, and IoT solutions for smart precision agriculture and forestry. The lab focuses on improving efficiency, profitability, and automation in three key areas: Permanent Crops (e.g., steep slope vineyards, olive groves, tree fruits), Forest biomass harvesting, and Protected Cultivation (both conventional and urban). TRIBE’s research and development activities follow a ten-year roadmap, aligned with European societal challenges and agendas such as euRobotics, the FCT Research and Innovation Thematic Agenda for Agrofood, Forestry and Biodiversity, and the FAO’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Additionally, TRIBE’s work supports the TEC4AGRO-FOOD Innovation Area at INESC TEC, focusing on agro-food and forestry innovations.
