Modular-E

Modular-E is an electric and cost-effective modular ground robot developed by INESC TEC, designed to support various agricultural tasks through the attachment of specialized tools. These include soil monitoring, weed removal/control, spraying, and fertilization, among others. Its versatility and modularity make it suitable for operation even in steep slope agriculture. The platform features a two-wheel system with differential traction, supported by a two-wheel trailer (with or without traction).
At WORLD FIRA 2025, INESC TEC presented both the original Modular-E and a new version of the robot. This new version is slightly larger, more robust, and equipped with a manipulator, making it suitable for forestry operations. Despite these upgrades, the new version maintains the Modular- E’s core modularity, enabling the attachment of various tools for different purposes.
